No, it's not the American League All-Star Team, it's the world famous New York Yankees. For those of you headed out to Yankee Stadium to see the boys on their quest to reclaim the AL pennant, you will want to catch our "Fan's Guide to the Game" below.
Reopened on April 15th, 1976, Yankee Stadium is home to the 26-time World Series Champion New York Yankees. Love 'em or hate 'em, Yankee Stadium is one of the best venues on earth to watch a Major League Baseball game.
To make some friends before the game, stop into any of the bars along Jerome Avenue. There's no need to worry about being in the Bronx alone, there will be thousands of fans pouring off the subways overhead, mounted police and so much hoopla in the streets, you'd think every game was a World Series game.
Yankee Stadium isn't so much about swimming pools and picnic areas as it is about who's played there. It's the House that Ruth Built. Once you're inside you can imagine Mickey Mantle stretching a double around first, Joltin' Joe DiMaggio watching one sale out over the left field wall or the Babe himself striding across home plate. First time visitors should be sure to stop by Monument Park in dead center field. Monument park is open until 45 minutes before the game and used to be the center field wall before they moved the fences in. Imagine how many center fielders used to look at this while visiting Yankee Stadium and what they felt while studying the likes of Ruth, DiMaggio, Berra, Mantle and Gehrig. It doesn't matter where you settle once inside this great stadium, you're bound to get a feel for the history this park has played host to over the past nine decades.
Parking? There are plenty of garages surrounding the stadium and plenty of private lot's a bit further out. Just be sure to get there with plenty of time to park. Lots near the stadium fill up fast and they can take a while to navigate in and out of.
Whether you're looking to cheer the Yankees on to post season glory or secretly root on their demise, there's nothing quite like a game in Yankee Stadium, so grab some friends, family or cohorts and get out to this mecca of baseball for a game.
